8:49 pm - Robot Chicken Strikes Back With More Star Wars

bonniegrrl

Robot Chicken Strikes Back With More Star Wars
words: Bonnie Burton

The Emperor, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and the rest of everyone's favorite Star Wars characters are back with more laughs and plenty of inside hardcore fan details in Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II. The special airs this Sunday, Nov. 16 on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim at 11:30 PM. Starwars.com chats with Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich about what fans can expect from the new episode as well as special guest star appearances. Seth also talks about his upcoming directorial debut for his comic book The Freshman.

EXCERPT:
Any notable guest star voices you'd like to mention?

Seth: Carrie Fisher is in the show, which is awesome.

Matt: Billy Dee Williams came in and knocked it out of the park for us.

Seth: We got to record Billy Dee before, so we had kind of a rapport with him. And this was just... I can't tell you how much I love Billy Dee Williams. He is so awesome. The tracks he gave us are outrageous. We even wrote a whole sketch for the proper season where Billy Dee himself encounters a fan at the supermarket, we loved him so much.

Ahmed Best came in to do Jar Jar. I can't even express how talented that kid is. Abe Benrubi came back to do our Darth Vader.

Matt: Seth MacFarlane is in it again as the Emperor. Breckin Meyer is Boba Fett again. Seth: Donald Faison makes a great appearance as Gary the Stormtrooper.

Is this the first time you all have worked with Carrie Fisher for Robot Chicken?

Seth: This is the first time she's done Robot Chicken, but I've worked with her before on Austin Powers and we've met a bunch over the years. She was great! She was really game and very fun, and totally engaged in the material.

Matt: She said if George Lucas could do it, she could do it.

10:32 am - "What's it like to be you?"

lunaloooo
Hi! I just became a fan of Seth Green after I saw Sex Drive (yeah I'm a little late). I spent this past week catching up by watching everything I could online and on TV (except I missed Without a Paddle last weekend). Strangely enough, three Seth Green episodes of That 70s Show were on ABC Family this week and Seth started promoting Robot Chicken Star Wars Episode II yesterday. Hmmm... My first week as a Seth Green fan as been very entertaining.

First off there was:
The best That 70's Show episode ever- SubstituteCollapse )

Then there was an awesome interview with Seth on Attack of the Show yesterday.

And then he was on The Soup yesterday as well.

I thought this was adorable:

From November 7th The Soup

I really love him in that jacket.

bonniegrrl

(Seth Green -- photo by Pablo Hidalgo)

The sun shone on the red carpet this Sunday afternoon in Hollywood as celebrities and their families converged at the historic Egyptian Theater for the premiere of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The stretch of Hollywood Boulevard quickly clustered with curious onlookers who were seeking out stars -- both the terrestrial type and those from a galaxy far, far away...

In addition to the cast and crew of The Clone Wars and George Lucas, celeb guests included Seth Green and Matt Senreich, J.J. Abrams, Rodney Peete, Keenen Ivory Wayans and Forest Whitaker.

Okay, so I got volume one of Freshmen a couple years back, right after it came out. Then I sort of forgot all about it, and I just ordered volume two-- I'll be getting it in a week or so. But does anyone have any idea when volume three is coming out? Cus I don't want to accidentally wait a couple years to remember again.

6:22 pm - Inside Robot Chicken: Star Wars

bonniegrrl

The entire team, which consisted of various writers, set builders, puppet designers, lighting specialists, and cinematographers, worked together to make the best final product worthy of their fellow Star Wars fans. "Each department had different skits that were more difficult than others," Senreich says.

"For puppets, just the sheer volume of characters associated with the special and the problems we had to solve working on all these different scales, trying to utilize 3 and 3 1/4-inch characters, heads from PEZ dispensers or plush toys -- everyone had different challenges," Green adds. "As far as the set builders were concerned it's hard to say which was the most challenging to design. We had skits that take place in the Death Star in the Emperor's Throne Room, and that set was gorgeous. The thing is that everyone who worked on the show -- building the sets, making puppets, working in the lighting department, cinematography, and so on -- really loves Star Wars and they wanted to replicate it as identically as possible. So people put a ton of extra labor into it just to make sure it was picture perfect."

The company Plastic Earth was also contracted to create a rather startling likeness of filmmaker George Lucas, while the "Robot Chicken" puppet department clothed him in his classic outfit -- right down to his famous flannel shirt. Lucas not only appears in the skit (in puppet form), but he's also lending his voice. "He's an artist who really appreciates the creative process," Green says. "He gave us an unbelievable freedom in playing with what is seemingly his most-prized possession."

In addition to having Lucas, other noteworthy voice actors participating in Robot Chicken: Star Wars include such celebrities as Conan O'Brien, Seth MacFarlane, Malcolm McDowell, Hulk Hogan, James Van Der Beek, Robert Smigel, Donald Faison, Abraham Benrubi, Breckin Meyer and Joey Fatone.

10:02 am - "Robot Chicken" Star Wars-Themed Special

bonniegrrl

Adult Swim's "Robot Chicken" travels to a galaxy far, far away to create an all Star Wars-themed special. Premiering on June 17, "Robot Chicken: Star Wars" brazenly combines the satirical sensibilities of Seth Green and Matthew Senreich's (Stoopid Monkey Productions) "Robot Chicken" with the unforgettable moments and favorite characters of the Star Wars universe -- among them, its creator himself, George Lucas. Transformed into the stop-motion animated characters that are the hallmark of Adult Swim's "Robot Chicken," and in conjunction with ShadowMachine Films (Alex Bulkley/Corey Campodonicos), the Star Wars galaxy takes on an entirely different attitude.
